A slave girl changed a life
A slave girl changed the life of a soldier,
-
a leader of soldiers.
A slave girl changed a life.
She could have kept quiet
Done only what was asked of her
She could have resented her bondage
and kept the good news to herself.
But she spoke,
-
she changed a
life.
We can’t change the world in an instant,
But we can change a life
Just like the slave girl
We can change a life
By remembering who we are
By living out our faith
He was an important man
This leader of soldiers
He had helped win the war
-
the war that
made her a slave girl
he was an
important man,
and popular
with the King.
This important
man,
friend of
the king,
winner of
wars,
had a
skin disease.
A slave
girl,
one of
the spoils of war
spoke of
a prophet,
who could heal him and change his life.
The important
man spoke to his friend the king,
who wrote
a letter to the other king
[because kings
talk to other kings, not mere prophets]
The important
man, the winner of wars
travelled
to the country he had recently fought and won.
He didn’t
go to the prophet, he went to the king
Why do we
make it so hard?
We can’t change the world in an instant,
But we can change a life
Just like the slave girl
We can change a life
By remembering who we are
By living out our faith
By following where we are called
The important man was disappointed
The prophet sent a message
No-one does that to him
He is an important man
A leader of soldiers
Friend of the king.
No-one sends a message rather than speaking to him
in person
The important man wanted to be treated like he was
important
He was leader of soldiers, a winner of wars
Friend of the king
The prophet did not treat him as important
He sent a message to him
To bathe in the Jordon
The important man did not like the message
Bathe in the Jordon
For the important man wanted something spectacular,
something to fit with his standing.
The servants of the important man
asked why not try it?
A slave girl changed a life
The servants encouraged
The important man was cured
We can’t change the world in an instant,
But we can change a life
Just like the slave girl
We can change a life
By remembering who we are
By living out our faith
By following where we are called
Sometimes it is our life that will be changed!
What might change your life?
Where might you be like the slave girl,
and point someone to wholeness, hope or grace?
I love this. LOVE. beautiful, sparse, and challenging. There is good news here.
